Great Fall Fishing

Capt. Ariel Cabrera
November 13, 2011
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Flamingo has been a bit more interesting. There has been a real mixed bag and lots of baitfish around. We are just beginning to see an increase of wading birds which means great redfishing. The coast will see much variety and fast action. The trips I've chartered have been very successful with lots of action even on the toughest days. We've scored redfish, snook, trout, snapper, and jacks every time out. I like to fish this area a lot and am very comfortable here. Since I've been an officially licensed guide here for over ten years many of my customers really enjoy the area and come back to fish new areas. There is never enough time because there is so much fishing available.

Flamingo Fishing Forecast:

Fall fishing has been very good this year. Wether you have been prowling the waters of the bay or backcountry there has been action if you know where to look. In Biscayne Bay near Miami and to the south the oceaside and mainland shorelines have been productive. We have been casting scent baits and live shrimp in efforts of scoring bonefish. There have also been many sharks, big barracuda, and some snook biting. In areas in between there has been decent fishing for snapper, jacks, and occasional tarpon and permit

One key note to remember about fishing the Everglades National park; it pays to be prepared. This is especially true if you are unfamiliar with the terrain. It is always a good idea to hire a guide the first few times or at least be friends with an experienced boater who knows theses waters. Gather valuable information and plan ahead before heading out there. The winter will be on us shortly and the fish will soon head for warmer waters and we should have a great bite. Windy days are great for hiding and casting in Whitewater Bay. Please be sure to check out my website; www.captainariel.com and call (305) 431-6936 if you have any fishing or boating questions.
