Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

This past week was a wet one inland, but for the most part we stayed dry on the water. On Tuesday I fished with my son James in some conditions that kept us close. We did find fish and had some great bites on top water lures. We got into a Mullet mud that had allot of activity including Trout, Snook, Reds,Sharks and Jacks. We stuck it out until 1130 and called it a day it was getting pretty nasty.

This morning I am part of a big corporate charter on Key Biscayne, I am fishing with Chris and Conrad. We headed out of the Marina and didn't really have to go far for the Tarpon bite, the area around the Key was loaded. There were 5 boats all around each other and we all hooked up at the same time, pretty cool! Conrad hooked his Tarpon at 745 and released it at close to 9 a.m.. The fish pulled us all around the bay out of the no wake zone. This was a great fish and Conrad had never hooked a fish like this before! Every once in a while his adrenaline would kick in and we would have to settle him down so we didn't loose the fish. Eventually we got the fish up next to the boat and Chris got some pics, we released it and went back for another. We drifted crabs and Pinfish while I had them bouncing jigs off the bottom, this produced big Jacks, another broken off Tarpon and some big mangroves.

I am with Bob and Charlie today, I love fishing with these guys we just have a good time. I have been trying to get them out on the Maverick tunnel boat for a while now to do some super shallow water sight fishing. We started out close again today because there were some serious thunder heads building out west and it was definitely coming our way. It took a while but we got on some big Tarpon, we were all over them but they weren't even looking at our lures. We continued fishing and Bob caught a 30 inch Snook up in the Mangroves but the Tarpon were all around us. After a couple pictures we went back to the Tarpon that's when Bob got hit but the Tarpon let go. We got up in this giant mud that was loaded with fish but with the approaching storm the bites were slim. The storm was half a mile away and coming quick so we ran away into clear sky's. I pulled up on a trough and immediately had a giant Snook all over Bob's top water, this fish had a big head and that's all we saw as it missed the lure. The lightning

was very close and we had to make a run for it. The lightning kept us honest and forced us in, but after eating lunch we made it back out and had great conditions. We did have some interesting situations with waking Snook and schools of Redfish. We ended the day catching some big Trout,Jacks and Ladyfish. This is Bob's last week before he goes back up to Chicago for the summer.

There are fish around we are into our best time of year, if you are interested in catching fish and having a great day on the water give me a call at 305 333 8149.
