Brian Matthies, Eric Gilbert and Pat Banks were down in Fort Lauderdale from Baltimore and Chicago and chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

We started the morning catching live bullet Bonitos; we went to a local ship and caught the bait at the bow of the ship. The ship was anchored in 100 ft. of water and the live baits were swimming up current of the anchor chain. Next we trolled up to the north of Fort Lauderdale and fished over a sunken ship wreck. We did not catch anything trolling heading to the wreck, but when we got to the wreck, we sent down a live bait that we caught and hooked up with a large Amberjack.

We went back to the same wreck trying to catch another large Amberjack, but they would not bite a second time. Next, we switched over to kite fishing - flying two kites with four live baits - a right and left kite that flew a couple of hundred feet away from each other. The first Sailfish was caught by Brian, his Sailfish came up on the right short bait. Brian had a long and tough battle before bringing this stud Sailfish in the boat to get the hooks out and for a quick photo. We went right back to kite fishing, and within 30 minutes, we got hooked up with another Sailfish. This time Eric was the angler. This Sailfish ripped off a bunch of drag, and as we were fighting his fish, another Sailfish fed on the opposite side. All of a sudden, we had double header Sailfish. Both Pat and Eric did a great job bringing the Sailfish to the side of the boat. We got one photo and released both Sailfish.

With three Sailfish and one Amberjack, it was now time to head back to the dock. What a great job the anglers did bringing in the Sailfish. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
