Starting out in May Fishing Fort Lauderdale

Capt. Taco Perez

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

May 1
Today we fished with Ken and Larry. Now where these guys are from really is not the important part of this fishing story but where they are living for now is. These two guys along with their wife's are traveling the world aboard a crew ship called the Silver Whisper and from the sounds of the few stories they told us they are having a ball.
They pulled into Port Everglades this morning and made plans to fish with us this morning before pulling back out this afternoon headed for New York.
While fishing was not red hot we did manage to catch fish pretty much all morning.
We ended up landing 1 black fin tuna 4 nice kingfish 6 big bonitos and one big lizardfish.

Today we had a bachelor party with Kevin and Patrick from North Carolina along with Ryan, Brent Joseph and of coarse our bachelor Troy all from Ohio.
The plan this morning was to just bend the rod and have a few laughs.
So that's just what we did and while we trolled the reef with 2 planner boards running about 45 feet deep and 3 surface baits.
We ended up with a good catch 13 bonitos, 3 kingfish and 1 black fin tuna.
Best of luck Troy and thanks again to the rest of the gang for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.

As we pulled back to the dock we had our afternoon trip Felit, Leaonie and Luca from Switzerland eager to give their luck a shot at some deep-sea fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale aboard the Hooked Up.
Once again we went to trolling on the reef and YES once again we caught a lot of fish with a box full of bonitos and a couple kingfish.
Thanks again to all of our anglers today.

Today we fished with Steve and Donna from Vermont along with Patricia, Coasty and Corey from South Florida.
We started out trolling the reef and catching a few big bonitos.
Than we headed off shore looking for the ever so elusive Mahi Mahi we knew that we would be ether heroes or zeros when it comes to finding Mahi Mahi.

Today once again we had our regular customer/friend Jack from Holland along with his good friend Jerry from the Netherlands out for a few hours off deep-sea fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.
Now bare in mind that Jack has fished with us about 2 to 3 times a year for the last 20 something years and he knows very well what to expect fishing with us and he knows that going off shore looking for Mahi Mahi is a hit or miss type of fishing.
All the same he had his bag of chicken and his beers and he was all set ether way.
Now I must say that the last few days have been kind of slow off shore and we let Jack know this BUT he insisted so off shore we went.
Well he must be one of the luckiest anglers we have because he kept saying that it was going to be no problem to find these Mahi and sure enough we ended up with not only 3 Mahi but we also caught a couple triple tails witch taste 10 times better than Mahi.
Jack and Jerry thanks again and I'm sure dinner was great for you guys thanks for the invite!! (LOL)

More Fishing Reports:

Hi my name is Taco and I run one of the best charter fishing boats down here in South Florida. WHY? Because I’ve been fishing the waters down here since 1969 and I started at the bottom and worked my way up the ladder. I know what it is like to read a web site and than once you get to boat things are not as you thought they would be. Not here I say it like it is. No surprises. I’ve got a 45 foot Hatteras with a big cock pit. Fully aircondishened and refrigerated. Big comfortable platform.
