Inshore continues to suck but nearshore is getting hot

Capt. John GiddyUp-Bunch
January 21, 2011
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hey, if you don't believe me, call Tom at the Sanibel Harbor Marina. He is the manager at the Marina. I wondered if it was just me having a tough time Inshore. Tom showed me his sheet (no charters) and related a story Capt Pat told him. Capt Pat has been fishing out of the Sanibel Marina (Grandma Dots) for over 20 years.
He walked into the Ship's Store with a very long face one day. After a very long silence, he admitted to being skunked. SKUNKED. Shut out with LIVE F-Shrimp. Not one fish. Ladyfish. Pinfish. Catfish. HEY! NOT ONE SINGLE caught by this awesome/competent Pro Guide. It has happened to me and it hurts. It really hurts. Your pride, ego, and self confidence. In the PM, don't even bother to cut the 50MG Viagra in half. Throw the whole thing down cause your mind will not be on the game.

Nearshore is heating up because our water temps are on the rise. This past week GiddyUp Charters scored several limits of Gag Grouper in State Waters (GiddyUp does not fish in Federal Waters). No Red Grouper just Gag Grouper.

Latest water temps were 64 today after 58 last weekend. One we get into the high 60's, grouper will turn on big time. The season ends Feb 1st. PASS THE WORD: DO NOT BUY GROUPER FROM COMMERCIAL FISH HOUSES OR SUPERMARKETS. If we can't fish for grouper as recreational anglers and professional guides, the Fish Houses which buy from the Long Liners can go straight to hell.

Next time I'll tell you how I really feel. "GiddyUp"

Fort Myers Fishing Forecast:

Should be windy this week but if the wind stays down...Look Out!

Target Species:

Grouper/Flounder
