Late Cobia Run Fishing the Wrecks off Ft Myers Beach!

Capt. Scott Theis
May 28, 2012
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

This has been a late run for cobia fishing the nearshore wrecks. These fish are feeding on pods of thread herring moving in and out with the tide. Cobia are not shy so they will pop up next to your boat and make sure you have a freeliner ready. Also, there's been a lot of snook, trout, sharks, mackeral and goliaths on these wrecks. Make sure to handle the snook with care.

The inshore fishing has picked up with catches of redfish, snook, jacks and trout. Choice of bait is a cut pieces of ladyfish or thread herring. Early morning and late afternoon has been the key. Look for deep shorelines with moving water.
