East Cape hide and seek

Buena Vista - Saltwater Fishing Report

East Cape hide and seek

East Cape seas remain calm with little or no wind with Tidy Bowl blue 80 degree plus water. Hurricane Amanda has dissipated but the humidity she brought has not gone away. Summer is upon us and it looks like it will be A/C City on Jen Wren III for the next few months.

Early in the week yellowfin tuna started to cooperate and it appeared we were off to the races. We were finding porpoise schools and scoring on tuna from 15 to 25 miles off shore. For the last couple of days the tuna have disappeared. I believe it is a matter of hide and seek. There is loads of bait and an incredible amount of bird life out there. It is just a matter of time before they pop up again.

Closer to home marlin and dorado have taken up the slack of the missing tuna. Also, an occasional wahoo is in the count and a few swordfish have been sighted. More blue marlin are being released every day and schoolie dorado are starting to pile up on the buoys. A few trophy sized dorado are also being taken and I predict it is just going to get better.
