Hello everyone. Please check out our new sites: www.wrightsvillebeachfishing.net and www.carolinabeachfishing.net, they were just updated with a new design and will soon be packed full of video’s and how to’s etc, just like our main site www.reel-adventure.com. Lots of other good news is hopefully on the way. It is quite possible we will be adding a brand new 25 ft bay boat to the current fleet. A few things still have to be lined up with the deal but this boat will give us some added range along with a super dry ride and a bit more fishing room. Stay tuned! We are also entering the fly fishing arena this year and I am very excited about it. I built an awesome G Loomis 12 weight rod and mated it up with a Tibor Billy Pate marlin reel to target 100 lb sharks, AJ’s, Dolphin, King Mackerel and Barracuda. Also in the lineup is a G Loomis 8 weight that I built and mated it up with another Tibor reel, the Billy Pate bonefish reel in an awesome red finish. I was lucky to get this reel as there were only about 20 produced worldwide. These fly rods are available for customer use.

Now for the fishing report.

Offshore: Things are heating up. The kings are still far out but are moving in closer and closer each day with the warming water temps. The Bonito have made a poor showing so far but all is not lost with these tasty fish. We still have a chance at a good run of them, we will just have to wait and see. The Bluefish have taken up residence at the near shore wrecks and are very aggressive. One of my last trips my customer stated he loved Bluefish and his party was promptly sent home with a limit of 60 Bluefish in a half day trip. Jigging these wrecks should produce lots of fun for the next few weeks. The water needs to warm up just a bit more and then the Spanish should be here. We are waiting and ready to go! I can’t wait to see a Spanish on the other end of that 8 wt fly rod!

Inshore: This week we caught and released out first Flounder which is always a good sign. We are doing well with the red drum and have caught many in the upper slot range and a few over the slot fish that we tagged and released. Most of these fish are fresh in from the ocean and are hungry! The Speckled Trout bite has slowed a bit. There are lots of them around, they just seem to be scattered out now. Our live bait situation should improve dramatically in the next week. No finger mullet yet, but we do have Menhaden inshore. They are down in the water column. We caught quite a few bluefish yesterday inshore on Gulp! and these Bluefish will soon drive the Menhaden to the surface where we can get them with a cast net. The small sand sharks are just coming off of spawn and these guys are a lot of fun on light tackle. Check out the pics at my website: www.reel-adventure.com/blog for the female we caught and the male was still holding on to her. We reached down and grabbed both of them and only one was hooked! This was a first for me and gave us all a big laugh!

The fishing is great, just target what is biting and have fun!

Let’s go fishing!
