Montauk Fishing Report
CURRRENT FISHING SCHEDULE FROM MONTAUK: departing daily for 1/2 day fluke 8am - 12 noon and 1pm - 5pm, - porgy trips departing daily at 7am and night bass departing Tues through Sat evening at 7pm.

The NEW leader of the Viking $10,000 Fluke Derby is Dwain Griffiths of Middle Island who had a 9 pound fluke on Wednesday July 13. Brad Bergen is now in second place with his 8.4lbs Fluke caught May 30 2005. The new leader of the Viking $5,000 Striped Bass Derby is Mike Califano with a 39.8lbs Striped Bass caught July 23 2005, Mike also holds second place with a 38.5lbs striped bass.

Saturday - July 23 - Richard Jackson took the porgy pool with 2 1/2 pound scup - Richard Jackson had a 3 1/2 pound fluke. Captain Dave reports a better day with the porgies with more action for all. Night bass fishing improved with Thomas Orkin winning the pool with a 32.9 pounder, second place went to Thomas J Kowalski with a 31.6 pounder. Fluke fishing continues to be good.

Friday July 22- Striped bass keeps improving. Tonight some bigger fish showed up, and quite a few anglers ended up with their limit of two fish. It proved to be some night for Mike Califano from Bayside, NY, who snatched first and second place in the pool. His stripers were a 39.8 pounder and a 38.5 pounder. Fluke fishing was pretty good in the morning. First place in the pool was won by Dan Gambino all the way from Morgantown, WV with a 3.9lbs fluke. Second place in the pool was won by Steve Kopsick with a 3.8lbs fluke. PM Fluke fishing was excellent as reported by Capt. Joe. The pool went ot Nicole Markessinis from Hudson, NY with a 4.45lbs fluke. Porgy fishing is still on the tough side.
