STELLWAGEN BANK, MA- Cod Fishing 3/26/05

It was a Good Friday. A tongue of warmer water to 42 degrees has finally moved north to the east of the bank bringing with it bait, birds and a marked improvement in cod fishing in our region.

One of B-Fast`s vessels, BREAKER, took a shake-down cruise on friday after its launch mid-week.
Capt. Rog and Terry found that cod, haddock and redfish had move in to precisely the same area east of to the bank were we had been fishing, with meager results, the past few weekends. Skimmer clams worked best in the 200-360 ft depths. Cod 8-15 pounds, some keeper haddock and a few redfish came over the rails. The cod were full of bait-fish.

This is welcome good news for a very late starting cod season. The best is yet to come.
