 I would recommend a basic boating safety course, then get to know some of the local Charter Captain's to use as a local source of info on weather patterns and other potential hazards in your area. Google Boating safety and take the course online, some states require the course based on age of the boat operator. Call the local Harbor Master and ask for the Coast Guard power Squadron or Auxillary contact information as well. You can never have to much knowledge where boating is involved.....

Fishing Regulations and license is another area where you will have to research and learn the local ropes...[/url]
