April 2- 9
Sunday, April 2, we didn’t have a charter, but some other boats that were luckily enough to get out before the weather went south on us on Monday and Tuesday. Those boats that did get out did alright with some nice Dolphin and Wahoo. One boat that that made a long run up to the north to the break had 2 big Wahoo; the biggest went 45 pounds and they also had 10 nice dolphins.

Monday the seas were to running 3 to 5 feet, and by Tuesday morning the seas and winds on the 20 mile sea buoy off of P.C. reported seas 4 foot every 4 seconds and winds were S.W. at 14 knots with guest to 24 knots. Unfortunately, (we had a 6 hour charter and a afternoon 4 hour charter), for the 6 hour charter in the morning we had to cancel (we had a nice family that was able to go the next day), but the afternoon charter was going back home on Wednesday, I explained to them it was too rough to go offshore and told them we could do a river cruse. They were all right with that and so were their wives who were going shopping. The guys kicked back in the fighting chairs and drink beer for 4 hours and got away from their wives. I was trying to figure out who was trying get rid of whom, but I think it was pretty much a draw; they had a good time either way.

Wednesday, April 5, the weather was kind to us for about 4 hours out of the 6 hour trip, the seas were 2 foot and 4 hours later they were up to 4 foot and short (choppy). The tide was against the wind. We did catch some nice fish including 1 big gag, 2 nice mangos, 2 mutton snapper, 20 big sea bass, a flounder, the limit of puppy sharks and a 35 pound Cobia.

The weather was good up until Friday evening, when the winds starting blowing 20 knots out of the south west, Saturday the winds increased from 25 to 30 knots and Sunday the winds were out of the north at 20-25 knots. Next week the seas are going to be 6-9 feet until Wednesday morning, by then the winds will switch to the S.E.

Bottom fishing has been good in 70 foot reefs out to the 120 foot reefs and ledges like the 21 fathom. Some nice Red snapper, grouper, Sea bass, trigger’s, Mango’s, Mutton snapper, Lane snapper, Flounder, and Cobia are out there.

Snapper and Grouper are eating Sardines and live cigar minnows along with cut bait and pinfish. Triggers, sea bass, lane snapper are slamming squid and cut bait.

Trolling
Dolphin and Wahoo are in 200 – 400 feet of water, Dolphin are hitting ballyhoo with small skirts, Wahoo are nailing red and black ilander lures with a strip bait behind them.

GOOD FISHING, from Capt. John on the E-Sea Goin
