bottom fishing on fire

Postby captain john » Mon Feb 26, 2007 8:39 pm

With the end of race week and the beginning of bike week here in Daytona Beach the fishing has slowed up just a little, mostly because of the strong cold front that pasted though early last week. The water temperature dropped a few degrees but it has come back up to the low 70s offshore and the high to mid 60s inshore.

The trolling has been a little slow but there are still some nice king mackerel on the reefs in 75 to 100 feet of water and some sails and Wahoo off in the deeper water around the 28-fathom ledge also around the steeples.

Bottom fishing has not changed its still real good nice catches of snapper and grouper along with you stringer fish like triggers, big sea bass, lane snapper. There have been a few nice big fat cobias being caught on the reefs. Most of the action has been in a 100 feet or better.

Hope to seaya on the water soon
