New Smyrna Beach / Edgewater report 6/25/10

The weather here in East Central Florida is hot, but the fishing is even hotter. We have been catching good numbers of trout and redfish. The trout bite has been great in the morning with fish coming into the mid 20" range and plenty of fish in the 15 to 20 inch slot. We generally are done trout fishing by 9:00am and turn our attention over to the large redfish population. We have been targeting sight fish with double digit hook ups each day. The reds are up feeding throughout the day. You have to play the tides and water clarity if sight fishing. If you prefer to blind cast, points and deeper channels next to flats are paying off. When you do catch a redfish please take the time to revive it properly. The water temp is pushing 90 and it takes the fish some time to replentish it's system.
