Another beautiful weekend again found the smallmouth bass biting. Fellow guide Joe Szarkowitz and I spent Saturday morning showing local writer Amy Ryan the local water. We scored on some dandy smallies as well as a few bonus walleyes; look for the pictures and story as part of the opening weekend of fishing season feature in the upcoming Everest Herald.

Tubes such as the 3" Pro Select series were working well as were lipless style crankbaits again; the PT Pro Rattlers were on fire and produced the biggest smallies as well as all the walleyes and a few pike. Water temperatures were in the 57-60 degree range and with the forecast, should continue to slowly climb. As the weeds start growing and greening, look for the pike bite to get good. Crappie action will also start to pick up shallow before too long.

Tight lines,
