Eagle, CO – Listening to the fly-fishing industry has opened up the doors for two passionate entrepreneurs who have built an online management platform for outdoor businesses including hunting, fishing, outdoor activities, and marina rentals. After months in the making, John Price of Colorado and Sam Dryden of Tennessee announced the official launch of My Outdoor Calendar March 2010.

Sam and John have a unique story of how they established My Outdoor Calendar. They grew up together as children; their fathers actually went to high school together. Fast forward several years of camping, hunting, and fishing together, and Dryden and Price both end up at Belmont University in Nashville as roommates. They both were adventurous young men who always knew they wanted to start their own business that stemmed from their mutual love of all things outdoors.

The young men’s initial project was called Hunting Square, an online directory for the outdoors industry. “It was hard to convince businesses that an online directory listing delivered a value. We needed to help them do their business better,” Sam Dryden says about their initial endeavor. After a little more study into e-commerce and coming up with a more inclusive, memorable name, Dryden and Price came up with the idea of My Outdoor Calendar, an online reservation and management tool.

My Outdoor Calendar is a full service booking system that allows any and all outdoor guides and businesses to manage business transactions and bookings within their business as well providing analytics and e-mail marketing all in one place. The online service provides management for all payments that come to the outfitters and creates reports that help the business track sales, trends, guides, customers and much more.

After asking John Price where he felt the outdoor industry was going, he told us how outfitters could enhance their product offering. “Our service was developed to better enhance the experience of the customers and the fishing guides. Keeping both of these parties satisfied means the outdoor tradition will continue to grow,” Price says.

My Outdoor Calendar assists guides and outfitters in their mission to expand their outfitting business through technology. Dryden and his team see bigger pictures than most: “The fly-fishing industry is just one piece of a larger puzzle that My Outdoor Calendar is hoping to solve.” With the introduction of My Outdoor Calendar, outfitters can now leverage the widespread accessibility of the Internet, as well as the total online booking and management package that the Calendar offers, in order to reach more customers and to make booking their outdoor adventures easier than ever.
