Shakespear is Mediocre. Penn slammer is in that lb test. It wont snap , and if it does send it to penn.

I have had a lot of satisfaction with Ugly Sticks for the popping, spinning and the long rods.

St. croix or Gloomis all the way---Whats even better is when you get the blanks and wrap your own!!!

Two weeks ago I purchased a St. Croix lt-med 7 foot rod and a Pinnacle low profile baitcaster. This set up feels great. Light and balanced in the hand 140 yards of 14 lbs test. I have used spinning reels all my life so this set up is new to me. So far I have caught Perch and Small Mouth Bass all under 8 inches. I must work on my casting. There is a resevoir system in my area. Saturday mornings I go there just to practice. At 7 am it's just me and the old guys. They offer lots of advice.
