11/21 Key Biscayne Offshore Report

A buddy asked me to come along for a fishing trip aboard a 45 ft Hatteras.
We cleared Haulover Inlet at 10:20am and were greeted with calm seas!
We headed down to Miami to catch bait. In short order we filled the live well with Thread-fin hearing. We trecked a bit further south to Key Biscayne and we arrived at the fishing area.

The radio was quiet with only a couple of kingfish and lost dolphin to show. Right as we set up we catch a Kingfish. Within five minutes of the first king another one joins his buddy in the fish-box. We pushed out to 200 with no luck then work our way back closer to the edge and pick up a chunky 18lb Kingfish. Before we knew it we we're in a solid king bite. It was nice to have sailfish in between. We went 1/2 on Sails.

We saw a nice king skyrocket multiple times on our short kitebait; which had Mono leader; ultimately this lead to a cut-off. I switch to Wire only and the king bite continued. As sunset drew near we had a nice surprise to finish off this great day of fishing. A 25" Black Grouper inhaled a Thread-fin hearing in the mid water column; rig was a wire leader with a stinger hook. The stinger was well in his throat<stuck!>.

A great afternoon of fishing I tell you.
