African Pompano!!!

Postby Maverick » Mon Feb 23, 2004 3:33 pm

Took a buddy of mine wreck hopping on Saturday. Flat seas and beautiful weather made it a breeze to bounce around offshore in the Maverick. At the first spot we hit a great bite. Dropping a bare jig in around 200' on 8 # power pro my friend had a good hit and after a 15 minute fight landed a 31 lb. African Pompano! A new leader for the MET tournament. While he was fighting his fish I had a live ballyhoo out and got hit and landed a 12 pound dolphin!. Dropped a couple more times and I landed 2 more Africans about 15-20lb. Released those in good shape. Ended up snapper fishing some and got a few mangos and YT's.

That's 2 monster trips in a row. Thank's for the reports 8) Who says you need a big boat to catch big fish. Right on!!!
