Fort Lauderdale Fishing Happy Day Today

Fort Lauderdale Fishing on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

This morning we had two young anglers, Tyler, 10, and his brother, Brady, 7, along with their mother, Jody, father, Brian, and Grandfather and Aunt all from Pennsylvania. They were down here fishing Fort Lauderdale aboard the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team. As the two young anglers hopped on board the boat, the first question was, “What kind of fish are we going to catch?”, and I told them that yesterday we caught Tunas, Bonitos, Mahi Mahi and Kingfish so today we will be looking for the same fish.

Twenty minutes later lines were in the water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale FL sitting in 120 ft. of water, 1.8 miles from shore at the edge of our drop off. I headed towards a wreck that sits north of Fort Lauderdale FL. With two plainers down, one with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a pink sea witch in front of a double hook Bonito strip. For surface baits, we had four Bonito strips and one jap feather. The two young anglers positioned themselves in two of the five fighting chairs in the *beep* of the Happy Day Today, and were ready to catch their fish. Taylor was our first angler, and he brought in a Bonito. Brady was next and he caught another Bonito. The boys took turn going back and forth catching Bonitos and Kingfish with their parents and family members cheering them on. As Tyler sat waiting for the next fish, the plainer rod bent over. Line exited the reel at a fast pace – we knew this would be a nice size fish for our 10 year old angler. Fifteen minutes later, all by himself, he brought the fish close to the boat – a 48” Barracuda that put a large smile on Tyler’s face.

As the boys were getting tired after fighting a total of 10 Bonitos, 2 Kingfish and 1 Barracuda, we headed back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316
