I'm a novice fisherman in Miami, recently bought a kayak to use for fishing. Does anyone have any advice on good places/methods to fish around the Miami/S Florida area? Any help is appreciated.

Miami’s a big place :?

What area are you interested in fishing?

Not too particular, any gamefish would be great - snook, tarpon, etc.

Let me preface this by saying I’m not a kayak fisherman, but if I were…

.. I would try putting in at Matheson Hammock Park and fish points South. The shore holds trout, snook, barracuda and possibly the occasional bonefish. South from Matheson Hammock Park, try the Snapper Creek Canal. I don’t know your range, but Chicken Key and the Kings Bay Canal is a bit further south and can be really good at times.

You can also put in at Black Point or Homestead Bayfront. Like above, try the shorelines, grass flats, etc.

Although its not Miami, Flamingo in Everglades National Park would be my top choice for Kayak fishing. They have many areas which are No Motor Zones and should be GREAT!
