Costa Rica

Postby thums up » Thu Dec 28, 2006 5:17 pm

HI Guys,

Just got back from fishing on our new charter boat in Golfito, Costa
Rica.
It is not the prime season yet, but in one and 1/2 days we had some
decent
fishing. Couldn't fish more because of paper work and other business
with
setting up the company.

The first day we raised 6 or 7 sails and a blue marlin. We had a triple
of
sails come up behind the boat and hooked and landed two. One tailwalked
right up to the boat. Then raise 2 more fish but couldn't get them to
eat.
Then, my friend starts screeming look out as a free jumper all most hits
the
boat! Later, the Blue came up with another sail. We tried for the blue
and
he ate after teasing him right up to the back of the boat. It was so
amazing! He went nuts jumping all over the place. He wieghed around 250
lbs.. After about 10 or 15 minutes he threw the hook. We saw one other
sail
after that and called it a day. Not bad for only 2 1/2 hours of fishing!

Day 2, was a little more frustrating. We raised 8 sails and a blue but
couldn't get any of them to eat including with live bait. Not sure if it
was
the moon or not! We did manage to get a 20lbs. dorado for dinner. Our
chef
at the hotel where we dock did a great job of grilling him. Boy, he ate
well!!! We then moved on to inshore stuff and had several roosterfish on

live baits right off the beach and caught some nice sized jacks. We also

managed to hook a dorado right off the beach believe it or not! And, saw

several others with it. Never have I seen them so close!

The fishing should start to get really good in a couple of weeks.
Anyone interested can either contact me direct at [email protected] or call our travel
agent. She should be in after the 27th.of Dec. Shirley at Odessey Travel
