My fishin bud Matt and I "Ray" Headed out of Boca Grande Pass on Friday July 30th. We stopped at our favorite pinfish hole and filled both of my live wells up with bait. Our departure was delayed by a passing rain shower but as soon as it passed the skies cleared up and we headed to our hole about 30 miles due west from Boca Grande Pass. As soon as we dropped the first pinfish in the water we hooked up with a nice sized Amberjack. We ended up getting one keeper for the each of us. Matt pulled up a nice lil Cuda which we threw back .I landed 2 huge mangrove snappers a personal best for me. Matt and I both pulled in some nice Jack crevalle's. The jacks fought and where enough to give you a good workout. We had hoped to get to the bottom and play with the big grouper that I am sure are down there but there where so many other critters that we weren't able to get a grouper bite at all. We did do some trolling and pulled up a jack and a spanish mackerel.
I am a new fisherman and do not have much experience .I have caught mangrove's before but they where all in the 10 to 12 inch range near shore. My buddy Matt also said that was the largest mangrove he had ever seen. I was fortunate enought to catch two of them that day.
