Tarpon are still in the mix when I get out early. Look for them off the beaches and in the passes. I'm fishing Tarpon using mostly crabs and pinfish with a plug or a jig on hand for sight casting the teen rollers. The bite is usually over by about 8 or 830am. In a couple more weeks we'll start catching Tarpon in the late afternoon till sunset in some of the back bay cuts. These fish at 50-80lbs. are alot of excitement without the hour long commitment to the battle.
I have been Snook fishing more, with lots of fish action on the outgoing tides. We have not got any "Bigguns" but the cuts and passes have produced consistent numbers of slot fish early, and then with a little sunlight and calm wind conditions, sight fishing the cruisers up the shore-line, in sometimes just inches of water, gives you real fun fishing. Shrimp, plugs, pin fish and flies are all working well.
Pompano and Trout fishing is pretty active at the usual grass flats and sand shorelines with a good high tide and strong outgoing. Redfish are present, and when targeted give you the chance for some good table-fare. Expect the Redfish to increase as fall approaches, but don't hesitate to target them now. Shrimp ,Jigs,Shrimp and more shrimp has got us hooked up nearly every time lately. Again, "Good Tides" are the key.
Shark fishing, for the strong at heart, has been very good. Bulls and lemons in the back bays in 4 or 5 ft.' of water averaging around 5 ft. are the ones I've been into. Very exciting and an experience like no other.

[url]Naples fishing so far this July has been "Hot", and by mid day Naples and Marco Island are even Hotter! Beat the heat by getting on the water. It's a great time of year for fishing in South Florida. The sunrise is beautiful and there are few boats on the water. Most of the catching is being done early and late in the day,( the fish are thinking like the angler this time of year) - "Take a long nap in the shade, sippin on a cool one, before heading back out for the evening action". So, I've been doing mostly 6hr trips, back at the dock by noon. And then back on the water for a half days sunset bite.
