Hot redfish and tarpon action

Fishing Report 9/19/04

Everglades National Park/10,000 Islands

Redfish, Redfish and more Redfish

The redfish have moved into the northern part of Everglades National Park.
Most points are holding good numbers of redfish. I had the pleasure of fishing with Mike and his son Josh. We caught 10-12 redfish between 17-30 inches. Josh landed his first redfish. We also caught 2 snooks, 3 sharks near seven feet, plus those fun fish, lady fish and jacks.
Plus, we ran into a grand daddy tarpon spooking mullet, this tarpon was not interested in anything we had to offer.

The water is still stained and muddy. Plus, the bait has been tough to find, We did find a huge school of threadfin, which are not as hardy as the pilchards. Luckily, the fish are eating live bait, jigs and plugs just as well.

I expect the fishing to get better as the water clears and the bait returns.

Biscayne Bay

Tarpon fishing is on fire.

I fished with Frank and Profit, we had a great time landing and jumping Tarpon between 50-80 pounds. We also landed a 26 inch snook and lost a few more. The snook fishing was a little slow, but the tarpon more than made up for it. We landed 4 tarpon and jumped 6. At times we saw tarpon busting bait all over. We saw plenty of bait, mullet and pilchards. It looks like the fall migration might be spectacular.

If you would like to enjoy a great day or night on the water and catch some fish give me a call.
