Snook, redfish, Grouper, Snapper & Spanish: SW Fl

Postby fishbuster » Sat Sep 25, 2004 3:13 pm

I fished in Estero Bay Saturday, 9/18, with finger mullet that I netted, and released ladyfish and snook to 25 inches. Monday, I fished in 3-4 foot seas with Scott Kempfert and Josh Loper. We fished with live shrimp, in 21 to 35 feet off Naples. We caught a 24 inch Spanish mackerel, keeper lane snapper and grunts, and four slot redfish at 18 inches, 21 inches and two at 22 inches. Redfish are often schooled up around structure offshore this time of year. We released the two smallest ones, since the bag limit on redfish is one per person. We also released lots of ladyfish.

Dwayne McCoy brought his dad and brother along for a trip Friday, 19 miles off Naples. Fishing with live shrimp, we caught keeper lane snapper to 12 inches, keeper mangrove snapper, triggerfish and grunts. We released lots of gag and red grouper shorts to 21 ½ inches. We used a blue runner as bait to also catch and release a 12 lb. goliath grouper.
