Happy New Year from the Viking Fleet!

The 24 hr Middle Grounds trip that departed last Tuesday, 12/27/05 turned out to be pretty awesome. The weather was great and the ride was comfortable and short, 19kts makes short work of 80 miles.

The first drop was excellent, even with no current and the boat flopping back and fourth on the anchor, we had a steady bite of gag grouper and large mangrove snapper; that bite lasted about 3 hrs. After the sun went down things slowed way down for awhile. We made a few moves but things were slow for about 5 hrs. At about 2 am the snappers started to bite and by daybreak the bite was full on.

Chris Worrell from Stewart FL took the jackpot on both the Grouper and the Snapper. The grouper was about 24lbs and the Mangrove Snapper was most definitely over 10 lbs. The largest Amberjack was captured by Frank Alcock of Sarasota FL.

Our Next trip is an 8hr trip leaving on 01/02/06 at 12 noon and returning at 8 pm. Our Next Middle grounds Trip departs 01/03/06 at 12 noon. Plus, we are counting the minutes for the 1/10/06 trip, the Virgin Wreck Hunt & keeping our fingers crossed for good weather. Check out the website, www.vikingfleet.com for more info on any of our trips.

Hope to see you aboard the Viking Superstar soon!
