With Tropical Storm HENRI messing up the conditions in the gulf until this past Saturday, fishing in the bay was about the only game in town.
Before the wind and rain, we sought Snook for the grill and found plenty of them; with just 2 willing to strike.
Nearly every dock we scouted held fish, but they we not in the mood to eat.
On Sunday, the skies cleared and wind died down; allowing a quick run offshore.
It is a well-known fact that the fishing is usually fantastic after these storms.
Fishing in 90 feet, we boated 8 Red Grouper to 15 pounds; releasing many undersized fish. The bonus that day were Scamp, a cousin of the Grouper family.
We took a couple that measured 20 inches, a welcome addition to my clients fish fry that night. The Scamp were taken by downsizing our terminal tackle; using strips of sardines as bait.
Good Fishin’ to ya!
