Inshore and Deep Sea fishing in the Tampa area has been nothing short of fantastic last week.
Working the intercoastal flats with live select shrimp, my party of four caught and released almost 50 Seatrout on Saturday. Three inch greenbacks also enticed some action, with a large Cobia taking the first bait in the water that morning. The fight ended almost as soon at it started, as this Cobia was smart enough to spit the hook just after taking the bait.
Offshore, the new moon improved conditions for Rusty McKay and family on Sunday.
Dad, Russell, boated the largest fish of the day, a 18 pound Gag that nearly pulled him out of the boat! Brother Zak chimed in with a 12 pound Red, making this family’s dinner a Grouper-Fest! In all, we caught almost 30 grouper, but most were undersized and released to fight again. The bite was in gin clear water in 89 feet just 26 miles from shore.

Tight Lines!
