This week, we ventured to the 100 foot swiis-chees bottom in search of Red Grouper. Finding the bait stacks proved a challenge this weekl as they moved out about a 1/4 mile from the usual spot.
As we let down the frozen sardines, I could see the Furuno was filled with fish of all sizes. My clients bagged 6 Reds within the 1st 15 minutes. We kept only 2 as these guys were flying home the next day. Also, mixed in with the Reds were Mangerove Snapper. The full moon really does something to these Mango's as they seemed to fight the Reds to the hook!
Being from Pittsburgh, Steve Sadowski, doesn't get to see much along the line of Barracuda where he lives. So we headed over to the South County Reef to hook one for him. Right on the marker were 4 of the biggest 'Cuda's I've seen this year. Two of them had steel leaders hanging from thier mouths; by-products of a recent fight. Knowing that these guys were leader shy, we rigged up a mono presentation and set out a blue runner. It wasn't long before Steve had one flying out of the water. With a quick release, Mr. Cuda rejoined his friends at the reef marker.
Keep it tight!
