Tampa Bay Fishing Report 12-1-2004

Postby captchuck » Wed Dec 01, 2004 8:42 am

Even with a siff 20MPH Northwesterly wind, Hunter Hamilton was undeterred.
This 5 year-old from Tampa was set to fish on Thanksgiving, no matter the conditions.

Along with parents Herb and Sophie, we set out in search of a BIG fish.
Knowing that the winds would push most fish into the protected canals, we started out close to the boat ramp with a well full of select shrimp.

Directed by Treasure Island commissioner, Richard Krauss, we settled next to a dock at the tip of Paradise Island.
Within minutes, Hunter was pulling fish after fish into the boat. I told him to get ready as there were some big ones down there, yet to be caught. Imagine his surprise as his next offering was inhaled by a fish that just peeled line of of his reel. All he could do was hold on and keep reeling!
He lost that fish to the pilings, but redeemed himself later with some decent-sized Gag Grouper.
Dad finished the day hooking and battling a large Snook.

That day we caught Grouper, Ladyfish, Trout, Mangrove Snapper, and Snook---all within the confines of the protected canals!

Take Care!
