Gulf of Mexico Middle Grounds Fishing Report 2/28/05

Postby VikingFleet » Mon Feb 28, 2005 4:03 pm

The Viking Starship made her way to the Middle Grounds with plenty of rough weather on Friday with the expectation of the weather improving for the remainder of the weekend; however there was no improvement.
Capt. Rich reports a tough fishing trip, with a slow pick for the duration of the whole trip. They did have a good amount of quality Black Grouper and good size Amberjacks. The Mangrove Snapper bite was a little light with most anglers averaging a dozen Snapper. Paul Joyner took both the Amberjack and Snapper pool with a 32lb. AJ and a 7lb. Mangrove Snapper. Lee Tinter won the Grouper pool with a 26lb. Gag Grouper.
Once again we caught and released many American Red Snappers.
The Special American Red Snapper trip planned for opening day, April 20th and the 44hr Special Full Moon Super Snapper Hunt are both filling up quick, check out the website for more info.
