Steinhatchee Report

Postby highlander » Sun Mar 30, 2003 8:34 pm

Fished out of Steinhatchee on Friday, 3/28 and Saturday, 3/30. Caught lots of under-sized trout. Most of our fish ran 14", or so it seemed. We found them to be somewhat scattered. The water we fished was a little on the stained side. Fished mostly Assassins (Treuse Goose, Space Guppy, Electric Chicken mostly) and D.O.A. shrimp under a Cajun Thunder. Found most of our fish in the 4-1/2 to 5 foot depth range.

Live shrimp were not the ticket for us, even though we invested heavily in them on the first day. I did manage to catch a 24-1/2" Spanish on a live shrimp, however.

Back at the dock, saw some amberjack and sheepshead brought in also.

Weather was great, but the cold front arrived Sunday morning with wind and rain.
