Tarpon Fishing

Postby Tobinn1 » Tue Sep 30, 2003 1:33 pm

I am taking my family to Niceville in December and I would like to take my son Tarpon fishing. How is Niceville for Tarpon Fishing in December? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not much chance of jumping a tarpon in niceville area in the warm months and about none in Dec.. Best target species would be specks and redfish- LOTS of those in Rocky Bayou and vicinity in Dec. Probably only a handful of Tarpon jumped in choctawhatchee bay each year and I've never seen one past October. Across the Bay in the Gulf a lot of 'em swim by the Okaloosa Island pier in the Summer with some jumped each week of July and August. Some years a dozen or more a day but not usually. Best Tarpon fishing in this part of the world is 100 miles East out of Indian Pass in July and August.
