Bull Red Fishing around Pensacola Pass!!!

Postby Capt. Eddie » Sun Feb 08, 2004 9:35 am

Wow, what a stock of Bull Reds we have here in the Pensacola area. Last Wednesday, I had a ½ day charter and we landed 9 Reds from 17lbs. to 35lbs. Where else can you fish the Northern Gulf and find this amount and quality of fish! I had a charter a few weeks ago, where we found the Bulls schooling on the beach. There were literally thousands of fish in this school. In a 6 hour trip, we landed 26 Bull Reds with just 1 angler. The next day we went back with his stepson for 4 hours and landed 22, the smallest was 21 lbs. and the largest went just over 45 lbs. We caught them on everything we threw at them- Top Dogs, gold Silver Minnows, Mann’s Preacher Jigs, Bomber Long A’s. It is such an awesome sight to see that many Reds schooling. It’s great to see the net ban is really working.
