Great Redfish bite 5-5-07

Postby Capt Marty » Wed May 09, 2007 7:50 pm

Helped out Capt Bill today with a 4 man crew referred by David Groaner from New Iberia. Redfish was on the agenda due to the wind (the trout were lucky today and managed to escape our hooks!!). Two of the guys were from Tennessee and had never fished here in the Louisiana marsh, needless to say they had a incredible time hooking up with the reds. Everyone on the boat had plenty action (see pics below). We ended up catching over 40 reds, 2 drum, 1 sheephead, 2 trout, and 1 nice flounder. Out of all the reds we caught only 16 made the box. After moving locations I found some good moving water and the reds were thick coming out of the marsh (all keepers ). After putting another 10 reds in the chest at this location the guys had enough, so we called it a day. All of the fish fell victim to none other than the deadly LSU chubs except for two reds that took a gold spoon. Thanks Mike and the crew for the exceptional company, I had a great time with you. Big thanks to Capt Bill Lake for setting up the trip.
