5-19-07 Big Trout Day

Postby Capt Marty » Mon May 28, 2007 5:45 pm

Helped out Capt Bill today with a 2 man crew, John Roganish and Ralston Linn joined me for a absolutely nice trout slam. We left the dock early and were on the fish at our first stop quick!!!! But the bite did not last long, 23 trout in the box and we were on the move. We braved some 3-4 ft seas and arrived at our second stop to find the trout hungry for live shrimp!!! WHAT? Yes I fished with LIVE bait today. Anyway, we had about 40 in the box when the bite slowed and were out of shrimp so tandem rigged chubs it was.....and WHAM it was on 3 lb, 4 lb 10 oz, etc. They were busting the double rigs like crazy, I had 4 cast back to back doubles all 2 - 3 lbs. At 12:30 with 61 BIG trout almost filling the 120 qt to the top the guys were ready to call the day, so we headed in. The seas calmed down nicely for our ride in. We also had 2 sheephead and a drum. Ralston had a good fight with a nice red that we released.. As usual it was a great day to be on the water and I had a great time with my crew.
