Helping out Capt Bill with the Patterson Rental Tools group. Rene Gauthier and Larry Flak joined me again this year to fish the Oilmans Rodeo. The guys got in late yesterday, so the plan was to make a quick afternoon trip. Put the boat in the water for 4:15 and had it back on the trailer for 4:35!!!!! Too many black clouds, rain and lightning heading our way. Anyway, the guys met me this morning bright and early to put a SLAM on some redfish. It did not take Larry long at all to hook up, as he was reeling in a red as soon as I shut the engine off. The reds were coming in the boat one after the other, as the guys were really burnin them. I thought we were going to be finished with our limit by 9:00, but it took us till 10:00 to get our last 3 fish. Big thanks to Larry and Carr Specialty Baits for supplying us with their new "Fishbites Xtreme Scent Release" baits. We used the shrimp model baits and caught fish on all colors (New Penny, Rootbeer, white, and chartreuse). Looking forward for tomorrow to try and get on the trout.
