I had Kirk Breaux, Joel & Tyler Picou from Baton Rouge join me today. We were thrown a curve ball this morning with the buoys reading over 13mph. We opted to fish reds till the winds laid down. We found a small bayou and a bank with clean water and plenty bait-fish. We hooked several reds and missed a few and watched a red cruise down the bank avoiding every bait we threw in front its face (crazy site). We made a move into the ponds with crystal clear water hooking a couple more reds and losing count of the reds that swam right by the boat dodging/avoiding our baits right in front their face (they would not hit anything we threw at them). Once the winds died down we decided to go look for trout.Upon crossing the Lake we observed a site not seen in quite some time (Birds diving on shrimp), we stopped and started catching a few trout right away. The bite did not last long as we only put two trout in the box and the rest were throw backs. It only took a few minutes and they were gone. Once we arrived to our location finding clean green water we started putting a few fish in the box. The bite was sporadic as we would hit 4 fish then nothing, then 4-5 more. We made one more move boxing 2 more fish and missing a few more. The guys were worn out and threw in the towel. Always a pleasure fishing with Kirk and great meeting Joel and his son, thanks guys.
