Big fat king mackerels
This past week aboard the E SEA GOIN we had two 6-hour charters one we stayed inshore around the ships but there were so many outboards around that you could not even get a bite. There was so much bait around that you would think that you could get a lot of bites, but no such luck so off we went to the dragline which was 8 miles from the ships in about 75 feet of water.
We had pretty good luck there our first fish was a big king then we got into the smaller kings they all were nice but not as nice as the first fish that went 30 pounds. We also had a bunch of Bonita and some barracudas two that went about 45 pounds. As we were trolling we ran across a big leather back turtle which had about ten cobias on him we did manage to catch one and lost two more the one we did catch went about 25 pounds.
He ate the short planer and the other two hit the long planer and the shotgun. The short planer had a red spoon and the long planer had what we call a bait rig, which is two 9/0 hooks with a sea witch pink seems to work the best.

On our second trip we went to the party grounds were we caught our limit of smoker king our biggest went 42 pounds. We also had a sailfish up in the spread but would not eat anything, guess he was window-shopping. We also had a bunch of Bonita’s but no cudas.

Hope to sea ya on the water soon.
