Fishing Report from Costa Rica

Postby CostaRicaMike » Sun Jul 19, 2009 5:30 pm

Hola from Costa Rica:

Talk about a great week. The sailfish action is on fire. Double and triple hookups are the norm this week. One boat reported 31 sails tagged and release in a day. Good size dorados are being caught as well. A 47lb bull was on the top of that list. Some wahoo here and there but a big bruiser of 83lbs was hauled in. The surprise of the week was a huge yellowfin tuna and a black marlin. The yellowfin tuna tipped the scales at 187lbs...fire up the grill. The black marlin was estimated to be around 350lbs and was tagged/released.

As for inshore. roosterfish in the 30 to 40lb class are being caught around rocky outcrops and points. A 37lb dog snapper was caught by a local fisherman using handline equipment...ouch!!! Snook-Snook- and more SNOOK. The snook bite is on. 15 to 25lb class fish are the norm. You are able to get at least 5 to 6 shots at fish in the 40lb class. We are starting to look at offering an inshore special to target snook-roosterfish-snapper-grouper. Details coming soon.

So get out there and wet a line...you never know what will be biting on the other end.

Remember to enter our fishing trip of a lifetime raffle at www.stayincostarica.com/winafishingtrip

Good luck and tight lines!!!
