2009 SAILFISH CUP RESULTS IN PAYOUT OF OVER $400,000

2009 SAILFISH CUP TOURNAMENT RESULTS IN A PAYOUT OF OVER $400,000 TO WINNING TEAMS

Clearwater, Fla. (November 19, 2009) – The 3rd Annual Sailfish Cup tournament and the first leg of the 2009-2010 Sailfish Pro Series concluded Wednesday afternoon in Miami Beach. A total of 177 Sailfish were caught and released during the two-day world-class tournament hosted by Executive Adventures with a total purse payout of
over $400,000 in cash winnings.

Despite the slow fishing in Miami, team Reel Tight took the top spot on Tuesday with eight releases, with six of those sails being hooked at the same time late in the day. Owner Jim Lambert, his captain Eddie Hubbert and his crew secured the overall win on Wednesday with three releases and took home $199,495.00 in total winnings.

Team Fish Tales, owned by Alex Vazquez and captained by Chris Zielinski, took second on Tuesday with seven releases, and secured second overall on Wednesday with two releases; they took home $43,512.00 in total winnings. Team Vitamin Sea Too, owned and captained by Tim Maddock, moved their way up the standings on
Wednesday by releasing five sails, with only four being released on Tuesday; they took home $71,920 in total winnings and secured third place. Team Get Lit, owned by Christopher “Kitt” Toomey and captained by Quinton Dieterle and winners of the 2009 World Sailfish Championship, also moved their way up the standings on Wednesday by releasing five sails, yet they only released three on Tuesday; they took home $37,152 in total winnings and
secured fourth place.

Coming in behind team Get Lit, team De~Bait~Able, owned by Michael Walsh and captained by Eric Soderholm, took third on Tuesday with five releases and dropped to fifth place overall with only one release on Wednesday; they took home $27,648.00 in total winnings. Behind team De~Bait~Able was team Qualifier, owned and
captained by Terry Claus, who took home $19,008.00 in total winnings. And team Sandman, owned by Sandra MacMillan and captained by Neil Orange, Jr., took home $5,760.00 in total winnings.
Wednesday night’s Charity Gala at Miami’s Jungle Island was hosted by Mike Helton, President of NASCAR. The Gala was an evening of remembrance, philanthropy and celebration. Over $100,000 was raised for charities including The NASCAR Foundation, Speediatrics at Jungle Island and the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation.
