Smith lake may 5th
Got on the water early this morning. My client had one free day, he wanted to do some bass fishing. With a cool morning the fish seemed alittle less active. So we ended up slowing things down. Throwing shakey heads and soft jekbaits. The bite was consistent, but all small fish. Around 10 the sun had broke through and the wind was dying down. As it warmed up quickly, so did the fish. A consistent bite turned into a all day bite on any lure we fished. We caught fish using a shakey head, crankbait, soft jerkbait, and topwater. We had an all day topwater bite with the biggest being 1 1/2 pound. About 15 min before leaving we stopped at a shallow point with bream beds on the back side. We both had crankbaits on, it was my turn this time. I run my crankbait off the edge of the beds and the point. Fish on, it was a pig! It came out of the water hard and the first thing I saw was a hugh open mouth and no crankbait. That gave men a great feeling that I was not going to lose this fish. He jumped two more times before I played him to the boat. It was a 8lb 3oz largemouth over 24". I was pumped up, big time. To land a fish like this with 15 min. before being done is had to put into words. Worked hard all day, pick through small fish and several 1 1/2 - 2lb fish. Only thing better would have been my client to catch him. Great day on the water! Website is almost finished and pictures will be up as soon as it is.
