Lake Eufaula, Alabama

Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Eufaula, Alabama
July 19,2010
Lake Level today 189.40 MSL
Temperature- high 80's to mid 90's
Clarity- clear to stained

Bass are hitting Top Toad frogs and the new Revere Maxx weed less frogs early and late. The old popper baits are holding the fish up on top very well after the tight cover hit is over. Pink and bubble gum colors are getting a lot of attention. The different shaped baits are doing well as they tire of the conventional styles. The new Emerald Strike line is a good change from the old ones.

Soft plastics rigged on the Fin-tech Nuckle Ball jig and the Title Shot are getting great results.June Bug in the 6" to 10 1/2" curl tail worm and good. The Gold Shad Lizard is still hot, over 5000 sold since the Georgia Top Six visited Eufaula several weeks ago.

The Emerald Strike Droopy Eyeker is getting the Bass' attention in deeper water. The fish are holding around tree piles and structure in 18 to 22 feet. They do not want to see anything moving fast in this heat. The big lipped Droopy Eyeker will stay in the strike zone on a very slow roll.

Night fishing for bass is picking up since the days are so hot. The results are seeing bigger bass being taken. Dark lures and baits are the best bet as the fish are seeing silhouettes against the night sky.

Crappie are doing a little bit at night around the causeway and bridges. You need plenty of repellant.

Cats are really on fire now, especially at the dam with the water running. The sizes are getting bigger with reports of 20 pound plus not un common.

Be sure and check out www.leekingbenefit.org for ways to continue to help us in an effort to find a cure for these precious, terminal Niemann-Pick disease children.
