Lake Eufaula, Alabama

Capt. Sam Williams
September 20, 2010
Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Eufaula, Alabama
LAke Level 188.83 msl
Temperature mid to upper 80's
Water Clarity - Clear

Fishing conditions - Cool in early mornings, warming up fast after 9 A.M.

Bass are hitting at first light on frogs and top water poppers. The poppers are holding the fish up longer just off the weed lines. Soft plastics fished on the FinTech Nuckle ball jig are doing well all morning. The schooling fish are not hitting on the top water poppers or lipless crank baits like normal. We are using the red bug Emerald Strike ring worm and throwing it on the far side of the action and be ready for an instant strike. If it does not happen, slow roll the bait back to the boat, this will also get a hit. We are still using the proto type RevereMAxx weed less top water frog. The production models are expected in the stores in about 60 days. This hard bodied version of the frog is a sensation. You use your old, discarded soft baits on the wide gap hooks to keep the bait weed less. You get a second chance out of your discarded soft plastics and are not spending eight to ten dollars on a soft frog that will tear up. Visit www.reveremaxx.com to see all the models of the frog.

Pan fish are heating up and the next full mood will be good for the fisherman who wants to work the bank line with wigglers or crickets.

Crappie are moving up and are getting hotter every day. The night fishermen are doing well, still fighting the critters but catching a few. The daytime jig action is good, find the bridges and causeways and fish the western shadow breaks from mid-morning 'till noon. It gives you a break to troll into the shade now and then.

Catfish are doing great as always. Bigger ones are coming off of cut bait in deeper water.

Be sure to drink plenty of water while out in the heat and sun. Cooler weather is just around the corner, it has been a long , hot summer for sure.

Be sure and visit the www.leekingbenefit.org web site for opportunities to win great trips and help us find a cure for these precious, terminal Niemann-Pick disease children. Mr. Clint MAnn, a new resident of Eufaula, Alabama won the Bull Red fishing trip furnished by Capt. Daniel Pike from Destin, Florida. You can still get a chance for a deer hunt in Kentucky at the CCW Outfitters lodge in Crittenden County. They will provide lodging, meals and capping out your trophy. They even deliver you to and from your stand each trip to the woods. A perfect chance to spoil the hunter in your family. Visit www.leekingbenefit.org for more details or call 334 687 4000 during the day to get info.

Please remember our friend, FLW tournament director Ronnie Brinegar. Ronnie is in the Shepherd Center in Atlanta from injuries he received in a car wreck last July. He is paralyzed from the neck down but is making progress with his recovery, keep Ronnie, Stephanie and Fisher in your prayers. More info at www.hawksfishingguideservice.co,

Keep cool, get on the water and enjoy God's great outdoors with your family.
'Till next time,

God Bless & Good Fishn'
Capt. Sam
