Lake Eufaula, Alabama

Capt. Sam Williams
December 1, 2010
Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Water level today 188.66 msl
Clarity clear to stained
Water Temperature; 60's and cooling down

Bass are still being stubborn, schooling bass are going back to hitting the hard baits, top water poppers and the lipless crank baits. Soft plastics are working in the Texas rigs and jigs around any type of shore cover.

Crappie are really getting hot now and will only get better as winter continues. The trolling is the trick now, slow if the ticket. You will know you are trolling too fast when the hybrids begin to strike. They are a lot of fun on the ultra light tackle. We are seeing crappie in the 16" size already. For the still fishermen, find the brush piles or overhangs on the shore line and work the bottom up 'till you locate the depth the crappie are using. Right now, fish are in the 13 foot depth, we are dropping the minnow to the bottom and cranking up two turns at a time and waiting for a bite. If nothing hits, do it again 'till you get a bite and then use this pattern for the rest of the trip. When trolling, tip your jig with a live minnow to increase your hits.

Cat fish are doing well on bottom lines or jugs. The fishermen at the dam are having good catches with some big fish coming in.

Remember to dress warm, the winter winds cut tight through you and drink plenty of water.

Merry Christmas

God Bless & Good Fishn'

Capt. Sam
