Lake Eufaula, Alabama

Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Level 187.2 MSL
Clarity Clear, little stain
Temperature 80's

The summer heat is here, everything green is growing and the water is up. Everything is lining up for some hot bass fishing. I have seen a couple of pictures of bass in the ten pound range and they looked very healthy. The bass we are catching are all in great shape. There are plenty of shad, food is not a problem. If we continue to keep a few of the large mouth and all the spots to eat, the fishery will produce the bigger fish quicker.

Early morning top water shallow fishing is good around any vegetation and blow downs. Slow presentations work best. Jigs are a good bet. Later the first drops are the trick and the jigs are still a good choice, bounces slow or swimming very slow will get the job done.

Bream are getting hotter, crickets and worms are the bait of choice. The shell crackers are a little deeper than the blue gills..

Crappie are hitting minnows and jigs tipped with minnows work, channel drops and shadow breaks are the place to be.

Cat fish are fun on jugs, bottom fishing for them will work, look for some bottom trash and drop anchor with in casting range and relax.

Fishermen, the Lee King tournament is coming up in a couple of weeks. Please visit www.leekingbenefit.org and register or call Polly at 334 687 6266. There are several new ways for all to help us fund a cure for these precious children with Niemann-Pick disease. You can get involved and make a difference.

Keep plenty of sun screen and water on board as you enjoy beautiful Lake Eufaula this summer.

God Bless & Good Fishn'
Capt. Sam
