Lake Eufaula, Alabama

Capt. Sam Williams
May 17, 2014
Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

Water Level 188.50 msl
Water Temperature 79 degrees
Water Clarity Stained to muddy

Cold weather and fronts continue to stall normal patterns.Water temperatures have flipped from 88 degrees last week to 76 early this morning and finally warmed to 79 by mid day.

Bass have been shallow early in the week and slipped to the first drop after the cold front and drop in water temperature. They have been very active on blue and green shades of sinks. Earlier in the week they were very hot on the sinko, rigged with the Keith Poache Super Spin. Spinner baits, buzz baits, frogs and shallow cranks have taken some good bass. Biggest reported was 7 lb. 2 oz.

Crappie have gone back deep and trolling heavier jigs, tipped with minnows, are doing good.

Blue gills and shell crackers are setting up to be hot, the next two full moons should be right. Look for the beds around the shallower cover areas. A few are being caught in these areas now, they should be full of fish soon. Worms, crickets and beetle spins will get you a nice mess to eat.

Catfish seem to be hitting everything right now. Bass fishermen are catching a cat on a regular basis on soft plastics and crank baits. Jug fishing is a great way to catch a lot and keep youngsters interested and active.

Please visit www.alabamachildrensclassic.org and consider fishing our benefit tournament June 14, 2014 on Lake Eufaula. You will have a great weekend and help support the children and their family when they are in Children's Hospital at UAB in Birmingham, Alabama.

Be safe while on the water, keep plenty of sunscreen and water and enjoy what God has provided for us to use.

God Bless & Good Fishn'
Capt. Sam Williams
