Alabama Fishing Report for Lake Eufaula

Capt. Sam Williams
April 3, 2001
Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

The water temp. still remains in the mid to upper 50's. The rains and wind continue to keep the Lake muddy. The bass have struggled to stay on the grass flats as the water is dropping at different rates daily. One 36 hour period the water dropped 24 inches.Bass are in 8 to 30 feet and are hitting slow.Junebug plastics and spinner baits bounced off the ledges are working best. Crappie are hitting minnows at night near the barge in Barbour Creek and under the bridges, day time crappies are very slow and very difficult on jigs right now.The cats remain steady as usual. We were out for two hours and had over 50 nice finger cats and they made a great meal at the hunting camp for my turkey hunters who took an afternoon off to try for some fish for supper.

Next week promises to be better as the weather is predicted to begin to be on the warmer side and the bass are going to be looking for the warmer water to bed.

Any day on Lake Eufaula is a great opportunity, some days we catch a lot and some days we work harder but it is always good to be out in God's great outdoors.

We have the applications ready now for the June 2, 2001 Lee King Benifit Buddy Tournament for the Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation.Entry fee is $100.00 per team for a gueranteed $10,000.00 pay back.
