Alabama Fishing Report for Lake Eufaula

Capt. Sam Williams
March 10, 2003
Lake Eufaula - Freshwater Fishing Report

The Lake is muddier than it has been in years and the water temperature is 61 degrees up in the shallower areas and 56 out in the deeper areas. The Citgo bass tournament was here all last week and the men toughed out every kind of bad weather and water conditions and caught some nice fish. Even with the water levels changing as much as two feet over night, they were able to make the cautious bass bite. It is always exciting to have 350 anglers in town competing for the big money.

The bass should be bedding strong and hard with-in the next two weeks, if the weather continues to warm up. It will make for some exciting fishing as the water is back up and might stay that way. The fish were caught in some very shallow water last week. White spinner baits were the main attraction.

Cats and Crappie are starting to eat hardy. I was out last week with a photographer in one of the creeks and we ran up of a boat catfishing. They had one over 58 pounds, several in the 20 to 30 pound range and lots of smaller ones. They reported one that broke off 50 pound test.

Make plans for a fun fishing trip to Lake Eufaula and bring plenty of ice chests.

Take a look at www.BassAngler.com and check out the Lee King Benefit Buddy Tournament site. You can download the application and get entered right away. The sooner we get your entry the earlier your flight number. We are counting on our fishermen to help us make a difference in keeping these children alive by helping us fund the necessary research.

'Till next time.

God Bless & Good Fishn'

Capt. Sam
